Government Authority located in Montana; USA based organization looking for coherent optical communication system.
[A] Budget: Looking for Proposals
[B] Scope of Service:
(1) Vendor needs to provide coherent optical communication system for transmission of advanced modulation formats over single-mode fibers (SMFs). The system should be programmable and should be able to generate arbitrary modulation formats and pulse shapes over two orthogonal states of polarization at net bit rates of at least 200 Gb/s using polarization division multiplexing (PDM). An example of such a modulation format is 32 GBd PDM-QAM with Nyquist pulses to the government authority located in Montana,
- 1. A 4-channel arbitrary waveform generator module with the associated optical modulation generation software with at least 32 GHz bandwidth and maximum sampling rate of at least 90 GSa/s,
2. Two narrow-linewidth (of about 100 KHz) C-band and two L-band tunable laser sources with maximum output power of at least 15 dBm maximum output power each.  These sources might be embedded in the dual-polarization IQ optical modulator and the coherent optical receiver described below or might be external,
3. A dual-polarization IQ optical modulator with at least 40-GHz of bandwidth. The modulator should be able to operate in both the C&L bands,  
4. An intradyne coherent optical receiver with at least 40-GHz of bandwidth capable of operation in the C&L bands.  
5. A real-time, 4-channel, oscilloscope or oscilloscope system composed of multiple interconnected units. The oscilloscope should have at least 40 GHz bandwidth and 200 GSa/s maximum sampling speed.
6. All associated software and software licenses necessary to minimize delay skew and gain mismatches among individual modulated signal quadratures and states of polarization
7. All associated software and software licenses necessary to analyze and display the measurements of the coherent optical receiver for all major optical modulation formats
8. All associated software and software licenses necessary to analyze and display direct-detection pulse amplitude modulation,
9. Sets of phase-matched RF cables with RF connectors to interconnect all the above units together as necessary so that they are able to support net bit rates of 200 Gb/s,
10. A pair of AC- coupled direct-detection receivers capable to detect optical signals in the wavelength range of 950 - 1650nm, with 25GHz bandwidth, capable to operate with SMF fibers.
